This paper analyzes the peculiar relationship between Bergson and Spinoza by the means of three sources. The history of philosophy excursus in the Creative Evolution, and two lessons held by Bergson. In the first source Bergson criticizes Spinoza’s philosophy by stating that it is an expression of traditional metaphysics; in the lessons, instead, one can notice an affinity with the philosophy of duration (intuition, possible-real, virtual, causality). The analysis of the relationship between Bergson and Spinoza represents one of the steps towards a radical reading and a more complete understanding of Bergsonism.
